Assessments
I offer diagnostic and personality assessments to clarify the nature of psychological problems and recommend appropriate treatment. All psychological assessment reports provide a full DSM-IV-TR diagnosis and are completed in a timely manner.

Treatments
I provide evidence-based psychotherapies informed by the most current research relevant to the practice of Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology. I practice Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and incorporate treatment interventions and strategies from psychodynamic, narrative, client-centered, and humanistic orientations. I provide individual psychotherapy to adult clients dealing with a variety of life stressors (e.g., relationship issues, life transitions, chronic worrying, work stress, challenges with self-esteem and assertiveness). Generally, sessions take place once per week.  However, frequency can vary from twice weekly to once monthly, or less, depending on the specific needs of the individual and the presenting issue.  Ultimately, the decision about how often sessions take place and the total number of sessions will be made by the client.

Some of my treatment services include:

  • Mood Disorders (e.g., Major Depression)

  • Anxiety Disorders (e.g., Generalized Anxiety, Phobias, Panic Attacks)

  • Sleep Disorders (e.g., Primary Insomnia)

  • Grief/Loss

  • Adjustment Disorders

  • Trauma

  • Personality Disorders

Special Interest: CBT for Chronic Insomnia
I have a special interest in the assessment and treatment of chronic insomnia. The assessment of chronic insomnia includes a thorough sleep history to understand the nature of sleep problems and factors that may be related to sleep difficulties such as mood and anxiety problems and other life stressors. The assessment consists of a clinical interview and the completion of self-report questionnaires. I offer CBT for chronic insomnia which typically involves collaboratively developing healthy sleep promoting behaviors and examining the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in the context of specific sleep difficulties. CBT for Insomnia is time-limited and usually ranges from 6-10 sessions.
